Kimberly-Selway.com | UX Researcher – Hi! I'm Kim and I make messy stuff pretty.

Hello! My name is Kimberly Selway.

I use empathy and curiosity to turn clutter into consensus.

I’m a User Experience  Researcher, born and raised in New York.

I’m currently working at New York Life Insurance on the Digital team in Customer Service. Before that, I worked in a few different roles within New York Life’s technology branch, focusing on our data strategy. And prior to that, I worked at JP Morgan Chase in a few different roles across the company, mainly in business analysis.

From an early age, I showed an interested in web and visual design. I designed and coded my own personal blog in HTML & CSS while I was in high school, and I’ve been desperately trying to remove its remnants from the internet ever since.

I came to UX somewhat unconventionally. Early in my career, I would spend perhaps a bit too much time creating super realistic mock-ups for some of my projects at JP Morgan. I realized I enjoyed the creative side of technology so much that I owed it to myself to look into this “UX” thing.

By starting my career in business analysis, and working with developers, engineers and data scientists to solve business problems, I’ve gained a unique perspective that some of my more creative peers don’t have. I’m really, really good at designing within constraints, both technical and business-driven.

When I’m not playing around with Sketch or interviewing users, you can find me exploring New York City’s amazing museums or at the gym. I’m a certified Olympic Weightlifting coach and really terrible CrossFitter.
